11 Oct 40% less traffic
We’ve all been relieved that the amount of traffic using Bermondsey St has fallen recently. Statistics recently supplied by TfL show just how much. Taking the first week of September in 2015 and comparing that with the same week this year, volumes of traffic have fallen by about 40%. In the first week of September this year there were roughly 2500 vehicles travelling north each weekday with 2000 on a Saturday and 1500 on a Sunday. BermondseyStreet.London’s study with consultancy Sustrans into Better Balance of Uses of Public Space has involved local volunteers in doing counts of different kinds of vehicle at different times of day, and where they turn in and out of Bermondsey Street, so that will give us a much more detailed view. We’ll be able to share the results of that work soon.
