22 Oct New clock at London Bridge station

A new national railway clock design was unveiled at London Bridge station, the first for 50 years. It is nearly two metres wide and hangs from the ceiling. It also appears in digital form on departure boards across the network and at other central London stations including Waterloo, Charing Cross and Victoria. This design was selected from a competitive field of over 100 entries in a partnership between Network Rail, the Design Museum and the Royal Institute of British Architects. London Bridge station was chosen for the launch because it was home to the second electrical railway clock in the world, installed in 1852 and linked to a master clock at Greenwich Observatory. The winning design was by Design Bridge and Partners, a WPP creative company based in Sea Containers House at Blackfriars.
