12 Jun Community Design Review of Snowsfields Quarter – Report published
We❤️Snowsfields, a group of concerned local residents and business people, organised a review of recent proposals for the redevelopment of the south side of Snowsfields between Weston Street and Crosby Row. The review meeting took place on 20 May, led by Create Streets, with a panel of local experts and nearly 100 local people. The resulting report produced by Create Streets has now been published. The essential messages from the review to developers and planners are:
Height and Design Adjustments: revise down the proposed building heights and designs to reduce overshadowing and integrate better with the existing environment and to improve the aesthetic appeal
Green Space Preservation: maintain and enhance green spaces
Traffic and Parking Solutions: design for the anticipated increase in traffic and parking needs
Pollution Control Measures: minimise dust and noise during construction and soundproof the laboratory areas in the buildings
Supporting Local Businesses: support local businesses during and after the development
Developers and planners attended the community review and have been sent the Create Streets report. We❤️Snowsfields have requested meetings with the developers, planners, and landowner, to urging them to adjust their proposals and contribute to funding the necessarynmitigation works.
