1-4 Tanner Street permission requested for large vent

A planning application has been submitted for 1-4 Tanner Street, to replace the small vent in the rear wall with a significantly bigger vent 500mm x 500mm. This could indicate that there is a plan to change the use of the ground floor, currently offices, to hospitality with a much greater need for venting from a kitchen area. BermondseyStreet.London is concerned that such a large vent at ground floor level will damage Tanner Street Park’s amenity value in two ways.  The first is the venting of hot air and steam near planting, which may damage the plants. The second is that the noise and smells associated with the vent will reduce people’s enjoyment of our park. Many people living in the area rely on Tanner Street and other local parks for the time outdoors that is essential to health and fun.

If you have a view about the vent, do let us know hello@bermondseystreet.london. If you want to know more, search the planning register on Southwark Council’s website using reference 25/AP/0231. The deadline for objections is 27 February.
