Fewer crimes were reported by shops and hospitality venues in Bermondsey Street and the surrounding area during March, as reported by PCSO Paul Durrant. This is due to lots of good work by business managers and the Met Police. The most recent update is that only one hospitality burglary in the local area was reported during March and none from small shops. Local supermarkets are frequently targeted however, often by prolific offenders. In addition one theft was reported from a customer at a venue – theft of a bag. Sadly there have already been two reports in the first week of April. Constant vigilance is needed to discourage burglars.
