24 Jan Bankside Frost Fair Friday 26 – Sunday 28 January

Bankside’s Frost Fair takes place from Friday 26- Sunday28 January 2024 11am – 6pm. Immerse yourself in traditional games, music and dance, artisan stalls, art and craft workshops, and even a life-sized elephant!  There will once again be Frost Fair themed food and drink, offers and special activities across the wider Bankside area. The Bankside Frost Fair is a reincarnation of the frost fairs held during a mini ice-age from the late 1600s which caused the Thames to freeze over in winter. The thick ice brought river traffic and business to a standstill, but entrepreneurs took the opportunity to set up stalls and entertainments on the ice. The last frost fair on the river was in 1814, now reimagined for the 21st century on land!
