Bulb planting in Guy Street Park – Saturday 20 December

Local residents have decided to revive the long inactive Friends of Guy Street Park, and invite you to go along and help plant 750 bulbs in the park this Saturday! The bulbs have been provided by neighbours, Taylors Bulbs and the Metropolitan Parks & Gardens Association (the MPGA helped create Guy Street Park back in 1899). The bulbs need urgently to be planted if they are to stand a chance of flowering in Spring 2026. The plantathon will start at 10am on Saturday 20 December. If you can spare some time to help, do go along to the park and join in. If possible, please email friendsofguystreetpark@gmail.com so the team know to expect you. There are spare trowels and planters, but if you can take your own along that would be helpful.

There are lots of reasons for reactivating the Friends of Guy Street Park group, not least the significant funding from developers and others that may become available to help upgrade, improve and maintain the park for all. The Friends group has drafted a constitution; set up a bank account; created an instagram page, whatsapp group, logo; and started to liaise with Southwark Council. There will be a meeting in January. If you would like to be involved, please sign up as a member, and encourage your neighbours to do so too using this online form  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSefcvIFSRTnOeRghKY3DW4eVXAO4J5cIpepYbq5c1aFl3q0Ww/viewform?usp=sharing&ouid=107847238576145527178
