Could you play a part in Southwark’s Policing?

The newly established Southwark Policing Oversight Board is seeking board members, and the recruitment process is now open: https://jobs.southwark.gov.uk/jobs/board-member-policing-and-oversight-board-sc06869

To help build trust and public confidence in local policing, each London borough has developed a local Trust and Confidence Plan. The Policing Oversight Board will operate independently of the police and provide oversight of the local Trust and Confidence Plan with a brief to challenge, advise and make recommendations to improve transparency, accountability, and ethical policing. Board members will provide input on controversial issues, for example, body-worn cameras, tasers, violence against women and anti-social behaviour. Engaging with local communities and contributing to national debates will be expected.

Southwark Council would like to hear from individuals committed to improving policing standards and public trust and able to bring diverse perspectives. Ideal candidates will have a strong commitment to fairness, transparency, and accountability, with experience in fields such as policing, law, media, ethics, healthcare, business, or community work.
