10 Oct Eclectic events programme at Southwark Cathedral

If you are looking for something to do locally, take a look at the programme of events at Southwark Cathedral, always a very eclectic mix. Between now and the end of October, there is a day of cat story-telling, a course on Byzantine icon painting, an event about quack doctor Lionel Lockyer (buried in the cathedral) with poetry-writing, and a talk No Ordinary Deaths about the social history of death, funerals, and disposals, neatly scheduled just before All Saints and All Souls days. Southwark Cathedral itself has a very interesting history, which you can find out about on its website. The cathedral is right next to the approach to London Bridge and can be accessed from Cathedral Street or the old section of Tooley Street by the river Thames, postcode SE1 9DA.
