Essential repairs to St Mary Magdalen church, Bermondsey Street

A recent newsletter from St Mary Magdalen church in Bermondsey Street tells us….”Between March and May we fixed several safety critical elements within the church. Many thanks to the teams at Fullers Builders, Roger Mears Architects and The Morton Partnership (structural engineer) who have all been very professional and knowledgeable in carrying out the works. We are grateful to the Marshall’s Charity, The Benefact Trust, and the Listed Place of Worship Grant Scheme for the financial support that covered a large portion of the costs of the urgent repairs. Thanks to the City Bridge Foundation, we have been able to do an EcoAudit with 3 Acorns. This is a big first step towards reducing the environmental impact of the building and its use.” The picture shows tower framing before (on the left) and after repairs (on the right).

St Mary Magdalen church is open on Friday afternoons between 12pm-2pm and for regular services each Sunday at 10.30am. It is at 193 Bermondsey Street SE1 3UW. More here http://www.stmarysbermondsey.org.uk
