24 May Free family fun for National Biscuit Day at Bermondsey Blue Saturday 25 May
If you have been to the market at The Blue on Southwark Park Road, you have probably seen Russell Dryden, a great local character, at work on his fish stall. Very sadly, Russell has died suddenly, and the community loses a determined local spokesman and tireless activist. A free family fun day which he helped to plan will go ahead at The Blue on Saturday 25 May with a special tribute to Russell at 2pm.
National Biscuit Day is on the 29 May and Russell was proud to mark it with this event, given the importance in years past of the local Peek Frean biscuit factory. There will be live music, dancing, art activities and, of course, biscuits. There will be an exhibition about the Peek Frean factory, courtesy of the Biscuit Factory Museum. Artists Sarah Sparkes and Frog Morris will lead interactive biscuit and biscuit tin decorating.
The Blue is at Market Place SE16 3UQ.
