02 Feb Jean Cocteau’s original prints at Eames Print Room from Thursday 1 February

This exhibition, Proof of Love, is full of Cocteau’s creativity, melodrama and his joie de vivre. He was French and lived 1889-1963. He was a poet, playwright, novelist, designer, film director, visual artist and critic. He was one of the foremost artists of the surrealist, avant-garde, and Dadaist movements and an influential figure in early 20th century art. He was quite incredible and his energy and enthusiasm for theatre and the arts knew no limits. This exhibition includes the complete portfolio of 40 original lithographs created by Cocteau  in 1957 to celebrate his favourite plays, which often he had written himself, or the libretto, or designed the costumes, sets and posters.
