12 Jun Local Businesses save the Bermondsey Street Festival

The Bermondsey Street Festival is an annual celebration of the vibrant community spirit and independent businesses that make this charming street so special. What began as a small local event has grown into one of London’s most exciting street festivals, attracting visitors from far and wide. After organiser Bill Owen stepped down in 2023, Gena Johns, Gallery Director from London Glassblowing voluntarily took over as the lead organiser with support from George Cobb, Managing Director of Daniel Cobb Estate Agents, and a crew of other volunteers. The goal is to preserve this beloved tradition and showcase the creativity, talent, and resilience of Bermondsey Street once again on Saturday 21 September 2024.

For the businesses and artisans on the street, the festival is an invaluable opportunity to connect with the community, generate economic vitality, and celebrate the area’s unique character. “The possibility of losing such an iconic Bermondsey tradition would have a huge impact,” says Gena. She and George feel honoured to play a part in preserving this cherished tradition, rallying support and sponsors to ensure the Bermondsey Street Festival continues delighting locals and visitors for years to come.
