Made in Southwark – Boutcher children’s art project

Ed Gray is an artist working with the Boutcher Primary School on the Made in Southwark project to celebrate creative working life in the borough. Pupils will be introduced to a variety of opportunities in the world of work, sketching workers as they go about their day to day business. The aim is to create 18 large canvases to be exhibited this December in the atrium of Southwark Council’s office on Tooley Street.

Work has begun with Ed accompanying pupils to Tower Bridge where they sketched the bridge driver as the bridge was lifted, to Bell & Sons and Ben the Fishmonger in The Blue. BermondseyStreet.London has introduced Ed to local businesses, RW Autos on Morocco Street, Tower Tandoori, and Igloo Flowers on Druid Street, which will also be included.

Made in Southwark follows last year’s very successful art project which was selected for the young artists’ exhibition at the Royal Academy. Amazing stuff and thanks to all concerned!
