09 Feb Mudlarking exhibition at Southwark Cathedral

If you are on the look out for things to do as a family during the half term week, Southwark Cathedral may have an answer. It houses London’s only permanent exhibition of mudlarking finds, in Lancelot’s Link, close to the Cathedral’s main entrance and free to visit, no need to book.

The mudlarking case lets you get your eye in without even getting muddy. Search among the shingle for some of the most common things you’re likely to find – pins, coins, pottery shards, roof tiles and buttons – and come back each month to see a different star find, freshly mudlarked from the foreshore.

In addition, there is a ‘guest display’ of medieval pilgrim badges, many of which were found in the Thames close to the Cathedral and kindly loaned by Colin Torode of Lionheart Replicas.
