01 Jul New exhibitions at White Cube from Wednesday 9 July
Two new exhibitions open at White Cube, Bermondsey Street on Wednesday 9 July. The first is Alien Shores, which explores landscape as a place of memory, imagination, yearning and belonging. Through painting, video, photography and sculpture, it offers depictions of emotional terrain and voyages of the imagination. These are landscapes once removed. Work is included from over 20 artists including Anselm Kiefer and David Hockney. The second is Bakish Mai, which presents the work of Sara Flores, a leading contemporary artist from the Amazon basin. IT debuts her first film work alongside new paintings from her ‘Pei Kené’ series, which incorporate botanical motifs into the artist’s intricate Kené textile designs. These works reference both the energy of life and the threat of deforestation faced by Indigenous communities in the Amazon.
White Cube is at 144-152 Bermondsey Street SE1 3TQ. More here http://www.whitecube.com
