News from Shad Thames

Courtesy of the recent Annual Meeting of STRA (Shad Thames Residents Association) we can share news from Shad Thames, our neighbours:

What’s happening at the old Design Museum building? You may remember it was taken by the charitable foundation set up by radical Iraqi-born architect Zaha Hadid who died unexpectedly in 2018. The Zaha Hadid Foundation is refurbishing the building with new lighting, heating, better lifts and racking. The plan is to use it for storage of archives and research into them. The archives will come from Zaha Hadid’s architecture practice, her product design practice and the Foundation itself. The collection will include architecture and product models. Access is expected to be by appointment.  The popular Blue Print Cafe now operates as an event space. More here http://www.zhfoundation.com

STRA has published a Residents Guide to Shad Thames with information about local facilities, who to take problems to and much more. You can see it here https://www.shadthames.org/residents-guide/

The PLA (Port of London Authority) has after many years of pressure committed in the coming weeks to clean up at United St Saviour’s Dock.
