18 Jul Patrick Caulfield at Eames Fine Art
A new exhibition of original screenprints by British Pop artist Patrick Caulfield (1936 – 2005) has opened at Eames Fine Art. The exhibition features the complete set of 1973 screenprints that Caulfield created to illustrate the poetry of Jules Laforgue. Patrick was born in Acton in 1936, studied at Chelsea School of Art and returned there to teach. He also studied at the Royal College of Art and became connected with his generation of ‘Pop’ artists, although his work was very different in style, using bright, flat colours outlined with a contrasting tone. He frequently chose the traditional subject matter of still life and interiors for his work but interpreted them in a totally modern way.
Eames Fine Art is at 58 Bermondsey Street, SE1 3UD. More here http://www.eamesfineart.com
