16 Jun Plea from local police team for businesses to report all crime

Our local PCSO Paul Durrant has made a plea in his May report for more of the crime suffered by businesses to be reported to the police. If crimes are not reported, he writes, the police cannot make the most effective use of their time or patrols, don’t have a full picture of trends or patterns and can’t make the case for extra resources or CCTV. Please do your bit and tell the police about all crime.

In the last month or so, there was only one burglary reported against a business in the neighbourhood where a till was stolen. In addition there were several thefts from unlocked staff areas of restaurants and shops. Some prolific offenders came back to the same shop for several stealing visits. The supermarkets locally suffer from a lot of shoplifting and the police are working to catch the prolific offenders. Only two customers had their bags stolen while at a local venue.

The police team are using ant-social behaviour measures to deal with drug users and violent customers.
