Poetry competition – an opportunity for all wordsmiths!

Bermondsey and Beyond Poetry Prize has been announced with a deadline for submissions of midnight on 9 February 2025. Anyone aged 16 or over, based anywhere in the world can submit a poem and the winner will receive £100. Prizes of £25 each will also be awarded to four commended poems.

The competition is FREE to enter. Poems must be written in English, be the entrant’s original work, on any subject, in any style and no longer than 40 lines, previously unpublished. A competitor can submit up to three poems, each in a separate Word or PDF document, A4 format. Poems will be judged anonymously, so no names please anywhere on the poem document. Email your entry to blit2025@hotmail.com. Include your name, postal address and list of titles of poems submitted AND DON’T FORGET TO ATTACH YOUR POEMS! Entries by 9 February, results to be announced on 28 February 2025.

The copyright of each poem remains with the author. However, by entering the competition, the poet grants the organisers the right to post their poem on our website, and for the poems to be read at events. No person may win more than one prize. The judge’s decision is final, and there can be no correspondence concerning the result. The competition is kindly supported by Big Local Works Bermondsey and Southwark Libraries. Anonymous donors have funded the prizes.
