12 Oct Scooter business to be forced out of Crucifix Lane
Hard on the heels of the eviction of Hop Kingdom from its arch in Druid Street, London Scooters in Crucifix Lane is now at risk of also being forced out. This is because the owner of the arch has applied for planning permission to change the use to retail/hospitality. The area has become a destination for hospitality and landlords can see the opportunity for higher rents. However, losing this business means losing skilled local jobs, diversity in the town centre, and goes against Southwark Plan Policy P34 which supports businesses in the railway arches. London Scooters is a Bermondsey-owned business, operating from the arch for 23 years.
Although the formal consultation period has ended you can still object on Southwark Council’s planning portal. Search for planning application 26/AP/1923.
