03 Oct Southwark Council’s Licensing Policy review
Southwark Council’s licensing policy aims to strike a balance between supporting local businesses and maintaining public safety and quality of life for residents. It was drawn up five years ago and it is time to update it. The Council seeks views on the proposed changes, which aim to ensure the policy is up-to-date, reflects current legislation and guidance, and continues to promote the four licensing objectives, Prevention of crime and disorder, Public safety, Prevention of public nuisance and Protection of children from harm.
The revised policy has been updated, simplified and restructured. The licensing objectives are more clearly stated and the expectations of operators to mitigate anti-social behaviour risks are made explicit.
