Time and Talents – Building Bygones 4

Many thanks to Richard Miller, who has been busy again writing Building Bygones 4, the story of the delightful Time and Talents building near St Mary Magdalen church in Bermondsey Street. The Time & Talents movement was very much part of the 19th century wave of social action to improve the lives of people in the most disadvantaged areas of London. Time and Talents focused on the factory girls in particular. In their thousands they worked in the local food industry, low paid and often living in desperately overcrowded homes. The Time and Talents settlement aimed to give them a safe space for their free time, training in useful skills and more. You can find out more here Time and Talents.
