29 Jan Volunteers wanted – to help support local families
We have been contacted by a national charity Safe Families which seeks to connect isolated families into their local community working mostly through and with churches. Southwark Council social care teams and foodbanks refer struggling families to the charity. Volunteer befrienders and supporters get involved to help the family, and connect them into their local community. Safe Families support the whole process from the safeguarding and professional standpoint. More here https://safefamilies.uk/
Safe Families would love to hear from volunteers to help with this work in a number of roles, and with new projects supporting fostering and adoption, and care leavers:
- befriending and supporting local families and care leavers eg a couple of hours a week
- fostering or adopting
- resource friends who offer skills for one-off jobs eg painting, gardening.
The charity has produced a video of Nazool’s story to illustrate their work which you can watch here https://safefamilies.uk/nazoolsstory/. If you would like to help, click here https://safefamilies.uk/volunteer/
