Final planting completes Leathermarket Gardens improvements

Southwark Council’s Leathermarket Gardens improvement project which was first mooted probably about 5 years ago is now in its final stages. Fencing has been removed, including round the rose garden and the new beds are being planted.  The three areas which have been refurbished are the pergola (in the picture), near the Village Hall and the Tyers Gate entrance. Let’s hope that there is sufficient rain and watering to keep these plants going while they establish themselves over the winter.
