23 May BermondseyStreet.London has objected to Snowsfields Quarter

The deadline for comments on the Snowsfields Quarter planning application is Sunday 25 May. BermondseyStreet.London has submitted its objections, in support of local residents’ group We❤️Snowsfields. We highlighted:

• Lack of parking for needy patients visiting Guy’s Hospital after the demolition  of the NCP car park – leading to additional competition for on-street parking spaces and consequently, additional traffic congestion
• Ill-considered plans for heavy construction and servicing vehicles on our narrow and busy streets, putting pedestrians, cyclists, trees and signage at risk
• Excessive and oppressive height creating a canyon effect in Snowsfields, compromising the Bermondsey Street Conservation Area and in contravention of Southwark Council’s own policy that building heights be stepped down towards residential areas
• Loss of street trees – street trees, which everyone can see and enjoy, will be removed, to be ‘replaced’ by additional planting, mostly on private balconies and terraces, where few can see it.
• Grave danger to four beloved historic plane trees, in Guy Street Park.
