13 May Local playwright’s debut production – Patronage
Local playwright Camilla Elerman has written and produced her first professional stage show, Patronage, which will be performed Tuesday 26 – Saturday 30 May at the Drayton Arms Theatre in South Kensington. The production team is Happy Gal Collective (all ex-Mountview Drama School in Peckham). Patronage centres on Michelangelo, and explores themes of ambition, identity, the burden of legacy, and ‘the queerness of the man behind the marble’. It is a contemporary retelling of Michelangelo’s life, through a modern lens of artistic power, financial dependence and inherited responsibility. Set within the pressures of a family enterprise, the play examines patronage, succession and the uneasy alliance between creativity and commerce.
South Kensington is well outside our local ‘patch’ but Happy Gals Collective would love to see some familiar local faces in the audience and is offering 20% discount for group bookings of six or more. Book tickets here.
