12 Oct High levels of phone thefts

At a recent ward police panel, local crime statistics were shared which sadly showed that theft, mostly phones, bikes and shoplifting, have one up by 50% in the last six months. Along with visible drug use, they are what residents and local businesses are most concerned about. Bermondsey Street is one of the hotspots for masked boys on bikes stealing phones. Our parks are hotspots for visible drug use.

Staying alert all round while using a phone in a public place should help make you less of a target. Bikes and bike cages should be secured with strong locks. Drugs activity is a police priority. Don’t forget, crimes can be reported on 999 (emergency only) or 101 (non-emergency) or on the Met Police’s website.
